Remember when you first started your practice? You said yes to everything! You had to—it was the only way to get your practice off the ground. When you talked to patients, “yes” was the number one word they heard the most.

It probably went a little something like this:

“Can I come in after you close?” Yes.

“Can I pay ten dollars a month?” Yes.

“Can I cancel at the last second?” Yes.

It gets to a point where “yes” starts draining your energy. But you’re too afraid to say “no.” Why? Because you don’t want to disappoint people. Here’s the thing—you gotta say “no” every once in a while. Otherwise, you’ll start to hate your job. Yeah, they might be a tad disappointed, but it’s not the end of the world!

November is the perfect time to start saying “no.” Ask yourself these questions: Do I wanna do this? What are the risks and benefits of saying “no”? What’s best for me?
“No” accomplishes a lot of things. It sets boundaries, reduces burnout, and restores balance in your life.
