Data Snapshot: Production Per Day

Your Production Per Day is fairly simple: it’s the total dollar value of treatment completed and posted in a single day. You can measure it for the entire office or for specific providers, and it’s incredibly useful.

Measuring and reporting on your PPD gives you a snapshot of your daily performance, enabling you to identify patterns like slow days, overbooking, or hidden scheduling inefficiencies. Over time, you’re able to see how consistent your systems are at turning time into treatment.

This metric isn’t only a lagging indicator — it’s also a powerful leading indicator that will help you set daily goals! All you need to know is your Gross Production goal for the year, and how many days the office will be open. From there, it’s just simple math that will tell you what your PPD goal should be in order to hit that annual goal.

If you’re not making the progress you want on your goals, you can start using this metric today with just a few simple steps:

  • Establish a Production Per Day goal. Think about what you need and want from a profitability standpoint for the coming year, as well as how many days you want to work.
  • Design your schedule. You know your goal, so create a schedule that is designed to meet it.
  • Run a daily intentional huddle with your team. This will enable you to highlight any production opportunities, as well as any weak spots that need to be addressed.

The more you track and report on your PPD as a whole team, the easier it will be to hit your annual goals. When there’s a gap in your systems, you’ll be able to make adjustments, and over time, you’ll build your Better Practice and Better Life!
