Sick Of Overcommitting? 5 Ways To Politely Say No
We’ve all been in the same position. Someone calls you for a favor, and you can’t help but say yes. Dentists say yes to lots of things—yes to free treatment, yes to long hours, yes to working at home. Do they actually want to do all this? NO!
This doesn’t just happen at the office. Dentists say yes in their personal lives, too, whether it’s yes to dinner plans, weekend trips or volunteering. When all you say is yes, there’s no time left for yourself.
Have trouble saying no? Worried you’ll offend someone? Say this instead:
“Love to, can’t.”
“This is a great opportunity. It’s just not for me.”
“I can’t commit right now. Let’s revisit this in the future.”
“I’m flattered, and I know just the right person for this!”
November reminds us to say NO to things that don’t fit our goals, values or plans for the future. By saying no more often, you gain time for the things that matter most. No isn’t a bad thing; no is a GOOD thing!
Not sure when to say no? These wise words from Heather Crockett, who’s one of our amazing Lead Practice Coaches, will help you discover the “why” behind your decision (whatever it might be).Kirk Behrendt
